This whole thing started with two basketball-crazy boys and a dad who could not find a stat app that actually worked for real families. Every option out there was either a bloated enterprise product built for Division I programs, a clunky Excel or SSRS export that looked like it belonged in 2003, or a consumer app that charged a monthly fee and still could not handle the basics without a workaround. Sitting in loud bleachers at rec games and travel tournaments, the question kept coming up — why does this have to be so hard?

Illustrated Analytics LLC was founded in 2016, but Illustrated Stats as it exists today took five years to become what it is. That timeline was not by accident. Working 50-plus hours a week left only nights and weekends to build, and for a long time progress came in small pieces — a feature here, a fix there, a whole new approach sketched out on a Saturday morning and coded up by Sunday night. What felt like a slow build turned out to be an advantage. Each season of real use surfaced better ideas. Each version that went out to actual families revealed exactly what was missing. The app kept getting sharper, smarter, and more useful because it was never rushed.

Everything came together this year. Illustrated Stats is now, without qualification, the most complete and truest basketball stat-keeping platform available for families, volunteer coaches, and independent programs.
